The Meaning of Casa Lü

In Tibetan, "Lü" refers to the body and signifies what is left behind, reminding us that we are temporary travelers in this life. Casa Lü offers a temporary home, giving artists the freedom and focus to explore new creative directions.

A One-of-a-Kind Residency

Through 7 years and the experiences of hundreds of residents, Casa Lü has refined its residency programs to help artists make the most of their time in Mexico and significantly advance their practice. Located in one of the world’s most vibrant art scenes, Casa Lü provides artists with space, support, feedback, exhibitions, and opportunities to connect with others.

With deep ties to Mexico City’s thriving art community, Casa Lü has welcomed over 430 artists from 23 countries. The residency is conducted entirely in English, fostering a global community that promotes collaboration and cross-cultural exchange.

The Heart of Casa Lü

We are a creative community that works in harmony to inspire artistic and personal growth through art.

Principles That Shape Us

  • Interdisciplinary dialogue: We unite artists from various disciplines to exchange ideas, challenge assumptions, and inspire innovative thinking.

  • Experimental practice: We support artists in exploring new forms, materials, and techniques through hands-on experimentation and collaborative exchanges.

  • Shared knowledge: We believe that knowledge and expertise are distributed throughout our community, allowing residents to choose perspectives and insights that resonate with their artistic vision.

  • Pluralism and diversity: We honor the diversity of artistic expression and the shared humanity that connects us all.

  • Organic change: We adapt to the evolving needs of our community, viewing change and growth as vital components of our programs.
